I can't believe i haven't been here sooner. It's hard to find good Cuban food especially in cooper city/ Davie area. But this place is amazing. Our server, Ralphael was very attentive and great. We could see he was juggling many tables at once and still gave us excellent service. For those who are complaining about the prices, stop. They give you a very generous portion of everything you order. Keep up the great work! Definitely will be back.

this is not a fancy restaurant but for it's class of restaurants it is great! clean, modern vibe and really good food. I will put this into my restaurant rotation!

Lechon asado. 5 stars. I am from San Francisco. I can be extremely critical of food. It was the best I've ever had. Haven't been impressed with other types of food out here, but this for sure was amazing. Moist, tender, juicy, firm, not overcooked. Excellent flavors. Well prepared.

Food is absolutely authentic and tastes as good as my abuela's - my favorite dish is the Vaca Frita. Also love their steamed broccoli as a side - it's the freshest, most beautiful broccoli I've ever encountered at a restaurant, and pairs deliciously with the salty goodness of their Cuban style white rice and black beans. The mariquitas are a wonderful option for an appetizers, and the accompanying garlic sauce is flavorful without being overpowering. Havana's is a favorite among my family (all born in Cuba) and its intimate atmosphere and contemporary interior design make it feel like a nice going-out restaurant without breaking your bank.

Our first time here, food was amazing! Our waiter was great, all his recommendations were spot on. The sangria is a must and the best I have tasted. We all ordered the specials and they were delicious. I had the grouper with a garlic cream sauce and shrimps on top. The sauce was so creamy and rich, full of flavor. I definitely recommend this place to anyone wanting a good meal and attentive service!

This gringa who knows her Cuban food really enjoyed this restaurant. Greeted with a smile, we had excellent service and an overall enjoyable experience. The food was very very good. The croquetas were fatties and cooked to perfection. The lechon asado was a good as home made I've had before and the vaca frita was outstanding. Our server was polite, knowledgable and always kept an eye on us without hovering. My boyfriend's water glass never made it to empty. Very impressed. Will come back soon.

Really tasty dinner. My aunt suggested this place to have a family dinner, party of 8. Friendly wait staff and manager/owner is there too make sure things go right. I noticed lots of babys in high chairs here and families. They bring garlic Cuban toast on the table it's really good what's not to like about fluffy crunchy Cuban bread toasted with garlic butter?! We asked for more;) My aunt ordered the Tostones. They came out in tostones cups with little shrimp and Creole sauce(salty for my taste). Also ordered the calimari it came with a tasty tomato onion sauce, big portion. The plantain chips were ok my cousin said they were usually better, pretty much homemade. Last minute I put in an order for chicken quesadilla. Very good! Large chunks of grilled chicken breast, red onions, everything you would want in a quesadilla.they serve with their own Quac which is so good! The Pico de gallo or salsa is homemade too with pieces of jalapeno -makes me happy..I love spice My order came . I pretty much tasted it, and put it to-go I was stuffed. I got the Vaca Fritta it's crunchy from frying it, pulled beef and onions and really good. From the yelp pics I knew I wanted the broccoli and Brown rice. The broccoli is huge, there were many comments made to me like " I ordered a tree"...ha. My cousin ordered the Bistec de Palomilla, which is a punted thin tender steak. Fries and rice as her side..the fries are fresh and really good! They even put a spice on the fries which kick it up a notch for me! I think I might have to come by- Just to get the fries one day, when I want delish fries..yum. A couple other 2 ordered the Churrasco steak. It was very tender not juicy and not overcooked more like medium rare..delicious flavor. Another 2 people ordered the Bistec Empanizado. Tender steak gets the breaded and pan-fried treatment. Both couldn't finish the huge steaks! The black beans that come with the Rice was very well seasoned, flavorful. Mine was more saucy than the pics of other people's black beans mound. The plantains I tried were really good too, fried to perfection not overdone or burnt. Im def coming here again. Big portions, yummy food, good service. My husband really liked it too and says 5 stars

I came here with a friend, who had the ceviche and bistec de palomilla. We both had a mojito. Because it was a dinner menu, it was moderately priced at under $50. And more importantly, everything tasted great! Our server was also very attentive, and I value a place highly on their customer service.

My husband and I came here for lunch this afternoon, what a great idea he had! I had the palomilla steak and he had pork chunks, both were delicious and the portions were generous. A lot of love goes into their food. Prices are more than fair. I highly suggest them if you're in the mood for Cuban food.

This was our second time at this restaurant in a week. Last time it was late and we needed a quick meal. My wife had a chicken type meal and I had the churrosco skirt steak. Both were prepared exactly as ordered. Mine was a nice medium with a warm pink center. The chimichuri sauce was fantastic and added a nice side flavor to the delicious meat. We were so happy with the first meal we decided to see if it was a fluke or if the food was really that good when one isn't starving. They had a meat meal for two and it was amazing. Chicken, pork, skirt steak, sausage link, and blood sausage all on a bed of yummy seasoned fries. Side items were sweet plantains and black beans and rice. Black beans were good but could have had more flavor. The meat however had all the flavor one could ask for and it was delicious. I tried everything and was quite happy with everything but the blood sausage. Granted I'm not a fan, but it seemed it wasn't cooked enough because it wasn't dry enough for my liking. This time we started with a caesar salad and that was crisp and delicious. Over all I think this will become a regular place my wife and I will dine.

I walk in and there's a chemical smell at the entrance. We ask our waiter about the food on the menu and the seafood w. Yellow rice was $30. He insisted that its large and to be shared. It comes as half a lobster tail and a few other seafoods. Definitely not close to a $30 worth plate. Staff are all rude and don't care whether or not you're in the restaurant. I'm definitely never recommending my friends and family to come and will never visit again.

This little nondescript place in a strip mall off of griffin road in davie is pretty solid. I mean coming from Miami it seems a bit more fusion but the food is tasty and the portions are huge. I had a special, grouper in criollo sauce. It was enough for 2 meals and at $25 maybe a bit pricey for lunch. Their sangria was really tops. We are always in search of great sangria and this place definitely had that figured out. All in all pretty solid if you need to be in davie for business it an appointment. Service was great and efficient and they have a small outdoor patio should you want to eat al fresco or bring your furry friend.

Having returned a couple more times, I'm less enthusiastic & I have mixed feelings about this restaurant. I can tell they're trying, but they need better oversight both in the kitchen and in the front of the house. Some of the staff provides excellent service, but today when I ordered I told the waiter "we are going to share one whole fried snapper," but he brought out TWO whole snappers, for which we were charged. I didn't make a fuss because I don't like to waste food, & I thought, well, maybe they were small fish so they gave us two - who knows? BUT NO, we were given more and charged more. Then I ordered a cafecito. The waiter asked, "a Cuban coffee?" Yes. He brought me a cup, just what I asked for. Depending on where you go, this can cost anywhere from under a dollar to $1.50, but on the bill I was charged for a colada - $2.50. I think that the waiter wanted to "sell" more so that he would look good and get a bigger tip, so I'm annoyed. The food is fresh and wholesome, but pretty consistently underseasoned. The tres leches is consistently divine, but today's flan was very overcooked. That bread I was so enthusiastic about the first time I went still lacked garlic, and though it was hot, it was totally soggy. Very disappointing. So unfortunately I have to downgrade my review... I hope someone from the restaurant reads this and takes action to improve matters, because Broward needs good Cuban restaurants.

First time here. We were told by family that the food was good and decided to try it out. We walked in and were seated right away. The place is clean and quiet. It was busy but I found it refreshing to eat in a peaceful environment. They serve liquor and have several big screen TV's on the wall. We started off with the plantain chip with mojito as an appetizer. They give you tasted cuban bread with a butter garlic sauce applied on it. The menu has a variety of Cuban and Argentina food items. We ordered the special which was grouper chunks in a Creole sauce which comea with white rice or brown with black beans and plantains or other options. We also had the pork chops which came with same items. All of which was delicious. We typically dont go out to eat spanish food as we are Spanish and cook it at home. So we were please when we actually liked what we ate. Plates range from $

Everytime we have out of town guests we bring them to Havannas. They always LOVE it and ask to go back again before they leave town. My favorite two things on the menu are the churasco and pollo Champinon (sorry if I mispelled)...The portions are big, and very filling. This place is a must try! You wont be disappointed.

Meh. Not the best Cuban food I've ever had but it's certainly not the worst. Located on Griffin and Pine Island, you're sure not to miss it. We were seated immediately (on a Saturday night) and then greeted by a friendly waiter. He brought out the bread which tasted like it was soaked in a vat of lard then loaded with butter. Definitely the soggiest bread I've ever tried. I ordered steak, and while it was huge, the flavor was lacking. It was chewy and just average. My mother and sister didn't like their chicken either. They stated that it was pretty dry. While the service was good and the food was just OK - I don't think I will be back. You can definitely get better Cuban food at Las Vegas or La Carreta.

Delicious! I haven't been here since childhood many, many years ago. We arrived with no reservations Friday night at 7:30, party of 4. We were quoted 30-40 minutes but we waited about half that. Our waiter was lovely, an older man who tool excellent care of us and paired our meals with great wines. Our dinner was great, and the yellow rice was perfect. The chicken soup in particular is reason enough to come. It's a bit salty for me, but delicious. I'd recommend Havana to everyone!

Paid for family's Sunday lunch and forgot I had a $15 coupon off a $100 check. Was disappointed the management would not accept the coupon because they already ran the card and that the check was closed. The manager, Santiago, said he couldn't do anything about it. There's always something a good manager can do to make a bad situation a positive experience.

We have eaten from here several times. I cannot say I will be back because I like my food HOT. A meal would consist of rice, beans and a steak. Steak tough as shoe leather lol, and beans were cold. I'm mean really cold. I told them of my disenchantment and looked perplexed. I gently suggested maybe the warmer was Off on the beans and to literally only cook the steak for 1 min on each side. Honestly, I've always had trouble getting this steak right almost anywhere. The Cuban sandwich is authentic with real roast pork, a must have :-) this alone earns 3 them 3stars. So we only get the Cuban sandwich.

Pricey... $22.95 for a churrasco might fly at casa larios, bongos, or versalles, but not griffin rd and pine island in davie.

As I pulled into the parking lot last week, the endless rows of double parked cars should have served as a metaphorical premonition to my culinary fate. Despite the positive reviews, the place was so desolate I heard the theme from 'The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly' and saw a tumbleweed go by as I walked in. The CHEWrasco steak was rubber, to the point that I would have rather chewed on my belt. They also managed to commit a Cuban cuisine Cardinal sin, a transgression that cannot be forgiven- they messed up croquettas. They tasted like soggy hot dog buns dipped in MSG. As a Cuban cuisine aficionado, I hope things improve in dodge. Don't believe me? Go see for yourself.

I would give 10 stars if I could. these guys nailed it.. service, style, clean, authentic fine Cuban food. the food.... oh, the food. delicate tastes, lots going on for the pallet, portions were great. the server recommended splitting the rib eye. it was like 3 pounds (bone in) Excellent plantains, the coffee was fantastic. I'm super spoiled when it comes to food, being from Charleston, this was a great find. ranks in the top 2 restaurant experiences. .. ever. we went with the servers recommendations all the way and we're not disappointed.

So, I'm not a big fan of cuban food (I know, I know, who doesn't like cuban food?), but THIS PLACE is SPEC-TA-CU-LAR!! I had the camarones al ajillo with brown rice, black beans and maduros. Chopped and stirred it all together, and went at it. Like I hadn't been fed in days. My husband reached over for a taste and I nearly bit off his arm. I must say the only con were the screeching voices surrounding us. They sat two bimbo's behind us. They literally said "blah, blah, blah" multiple times, and the pitch of their voices were so high that our ears bled a bit.

I feel very strongly about this restaurant. I can't believe I hadn't been here before. Since I have had bad experiences with other Cuban restaurants in the area (namely, La Carreta and Las Vegas) we found Havana's on Yelp. The restaurant is beautiful! We loved the atmosphere and the staff was very friendly! Our waiter was super attentive. I had the pollo a la plancha and it was so good my plate was empty. My husband also loved his dish (although can't remember what it was). We left there feeling satisfied and dying to go back. The food is truly authentic and delicious and the staff is great also. I would highly recommend!!!

I have been eating at this restaurant for years and it has always been one of my favorites - even pushing numerous votes its way a couple of years ago for the best Latin restaurant in Broward County. I had a take-out dish last night (chicken and rice) that was way too salty. I returned the dish because I assumed that they would like to taste it to determine what went wrong, but instead, I was confronted with a rude employee, so I wrote a negative review. I would have never written the review but for the actions of the employee. (Since all of their other food is so delicious, I assumed that a simple mistake had been made with the salt.) My initial complaint was with the management because I assumed that she had been so poorly trained, but afterwards I assumed the restaurant was no longer up to the standards it had once held. I was, therefore, pleasantly surprised to receive an apology from the manager within minutes of the review! Obviously they care tremendously about their customers and the employee's actions were clearly not a result of her training and were obviously not sanctioned by management. I immediately removed the negative review. I will now give the chicken and yellow rice a second chance. I have never ordered it before, even though it is one of my favorites, because it takes 1 1/2 hours. Everything else I have ordered there was so delicious that we have ordered it again and again, and we were especially looking forward to the chicken and rice dish. I fully understand that no matter how hard management tries, some employees will fall short. The fact that they try and care is all that matters.

My first review for this family favorite restaurant. A place like this was sorely needed in the Davie/Cooper City wasteland of sports bars & buffets. This is good, decent, tasty, Cuban food for a fair price. Nothing fancy & prices are usually huge. My husband always gets the Cuban churrasco. It is tasty & usually a huge portion. Funny, tonight the portion was much smaller. However after complaining about it, the manager brought out another steak in addition to the one he had. Great customer service! I usually have the fish...very well prepared. Tonight I opted for the Brazilian Churrasco....awesome!!!!! My 9 & 10 year olds share the Pollo Milanese, basically a light chicken parmigiana but always big enough to split. My only wish is that the broccoli was softer & they had more if a variety of vegetables as side dishes.

One of my favorite restaurants that I go to. This time in many times before I got the Cherasco steak. It happened to be a little on the smaller side this time but when the manager came over to see if he offered me a much larger piece for free. Fantastic! I love the service, waitress with a super smile.

Went on a weeknight but it was busy. I have no idea why because the food was lacking in quality and taste. It was not fresh and not traditionally Cuban. They don't even have traditional Cuban bread or coffee. This place is a total miss. Will not be coming back.

I wasn't a fan at first but became a lover. Pricey for what I'm use to seeing in Cuban food but worth it and fresh. They catch their own seafood and cook it to a great delight . Try the Grouper chunks in creole type sauce, white rice, black beans and plantains. My son loves their croquettes !

It's my first time here. Stopping by around 9pm to order something to go after an exhausting night at school. I order the angus sirloin steak medium well and also a side of french fries. The manager is superrrr nice that he is giving the fries for FREE!!!! I think its because I tipped the restaurant even though its only a take-out. I love a good business! People here are super friendly and nice. Greeted me with all smiles and gratitude. The food came out quick! I cant wait to taste the food when i get home :))))

Happy hour with the girls!! Drinks were good.... Food was kind of meh... My friend and I split a platter of some kind...when it arrived, it took up most of the table so we were concerned it would be in the triple figures once we saw the bill... But actually very fairly priced at $50.... It had churrasco, grilled chicken, two kinds of ribs, chorizo and blood sausage all on top of a bed of fries... Blood sausage a little too pasty for my liking, I like a bit more binder so you don't feel like you're eating liver pate.... Flavors were good, just not anything special... The real surprise was that I was a few minutes behind the rest of my party and apparently the waiter refused to give the specials until I got there because "he didn't want to have to say it twice".... Once we heard the extensive list, it made more sense but it's not what you say, but how you say it, I guess... Overall, this place was just ok... Much better choices in the area for good Cuban food!

Havana's offers great food at terrible prices. I went twice last year. The first time I visited I was just unaware of the pricing. The second time I was desperate for Cuban food and unlike Miami-Dade, in Broward you just can't find Cuban on every corner. My take on the place: Havana's food is really good and it feels authentic and fresh. The restaurant is small but I'd describe the atmosphere as classy and even relaxing; just a really nice look and feel to this place. There is a bar and a few good sized TVs, but unfortunately, I have no plans of going back due to the prices. I guess after living in the Hialeah/Miami Lakes area for so long, I am just used to getting my Cuban fix at far better values. I'll stick to Dade or head to La Carreta in Pines whenever I'm caught in Broward and desperate.

Decent, regular to good. I wasn't too exited about the food. I had the lechon asado and my wife had surf and turf. My plate was okey but my wife wasn't good at all. Prices are good but I do think they can do much better. Our server was very good and prompt. The place is very nice and clean which is a plus. Overall its okey.

Let me say right off...no offense to anyone..but as a "gringo", am I an authority on Cuban food or it's authenticity? No. But what I can tell you is that is I can speak to service, food quality and consistency, and a restaurant that knows how to treat it's patrons. We visit this Havana's whenever we want Cuban food. There are many other places , but we go here. Why: because the staff is always friendly and attentive (regardless of any language barrier), the food is consistently good and high quality, and the atmosphere is fun. I have personally had everything from the Ropa Vieja, to the Churrasco steak, the vaca frita, etc etc. They even serve a little known steak (sold in stores as inside flap/skirt steak) with chimichurri that is perfectly marinated and grilled. Your water glass is promptly refilled, the bread (Cuban grilled) is hot and buttery, the vibe is always friendly and the manager always welcomes you in and thanks you when you leave. There is little else I could ask for. Go there. Is it "authentic"? I don't know, because I've never been to Cuba. Is it a great dining experience without all the froo-froo, BS? Yes, so enjoy!

    (5)
  • D C.

Unfortunately the vaca frita was not very good. Had no flavor and tasted like watery meat. The churrasco had no flavor as well, it wasn't seasoned or marinated at all, the chimichurri did not help at all.

Was hanging in cooper city with the family and stopped in for some Cuban cuisine. The location near out house in Sunrise had recently closed down so it was nice to find this location. You get the standard flattened buttered bread which is delish!! We all enjoyed our food. The service was a little slow and I really require my latin joints to have full liquor which this place does NOT. I like a good margarita when I eat this food!!

I was visiting from NY and strolled in with my friends. I had the garlic shrimp and white rice because I was too scared to order the other interesting items they had. I liked my food but it was a bit on the salty side. The maduros (sweet plantain) were actually sweet. Our waiter was full of energy and had great recommendations for dishes. He was well-informed and also well-traveled based on his stories to restaurants across the country. I had a freshly-made drink of oranges and carrots. I like the cool orange-juicer they had at the walk-up window. The drink was refreshing. It was a nice experience for such an impromptu visit.

  • N A.

The food was good. Ask for their lunch specials. reasonably priced. They make a mean mojito. What makes this place work is they are simple. they don't try to over complicate their dishes. Their media noche sandwhich is right on point.

  • Edgar G.

I visit Havana's CC on several occasions either alone or with friends and each time the food was fantastic, the portions are very generous. I had just about everything except the snapper specials and that only because I prefer my fish to be filet, not crazy about having the whole fish "head to tail" looking at me when I am digging in. The lechon if fantastic it just melts in your mouth, the chicken Brest is a double size that spills over your plate with grill onion piled high. The one thing I found interesting is they give you a choice of white rice or brown rice, never saw a Cuban place offer brown rice before, but what the heck I decided to go for the healthy choice for ones along with the sweet fried plantains and the savory Cuban bread toasted flats with lots of garlic butter on it. So enjoy I do every time. Oh by the way the bar is comfortable to eat and watch sports on those lonely nights when your wife is not home and you don't want to reheat leftover, relax and watch your local teams loose, at least you will leave with a happy and full belly.

This restaurant was some of the best Cuban food I have had! Granted, I am from the northeast, but still--next time I am in FTL I am definitely coming back. The pulled pork was excellent--not overhauled and soggy. Perfectly spiced. I never EVER eat pork, but this was excellent. I just wish it came with some kind of vegetable. Tostones and plantanos were both amazing. But they almost always are. The cubano sandwich was tasty--great mustard like sauce. Service was prompt and kind--patient for the new England gringos. I gave four stars and not five because the black bean soup was the only vegetarian option. The sauces and spices were all excellent--why not throw that on some sautéed veggies? Vegetarians proceed with caution. Everyone else, dig in!

Recommended dish, shredded pork, really good. Congri rice and plantains really good but a little on the cold side. Overall good food. waiter was a little unfriendly.

A Cuban food lover can tell the difference immediately -- the food here is good, but the Abuelita in the kitchen is from Buenos Aires- definitely not Havana. My sister and I shared a bunch of appetizers with the goal of satisfying a throbbing Cubano food craving. The maduros hit the spot - but that's about it. The empanadas and croquetas were not that tasty. I can't remember the other items we ordered because they were even less tasty. I wouldn't rule it out for a second visit, but I will come here only if I have a craving for beef - prepared in the Argentinian style. I could smell the spices of the steak dishes that surrounded me - they smelled way better than the faux Cuban food I ordered.

I have eaten at this place many times in the past but have noticed the quality of food slowly deteriorating with each visit. However, what happened to us today was downright vile! My wife and I quite possibly had the worst experience in this place! First off we get a waitress that looked up to the ceiling instead of at us while she quickly went through the specials. Then after we placed our order, we waited over 35 minutes to get our food "mind you there were only 3 other people in the restaurant at this time". When the food finally came the waitress placed what i ordered in front of me, when i noticed a weird smell. What could only be described as a wet dog smell coming out of my chicken! "Rotten chicken", I tell the waitress to please remove it. As you can imagine I was not about to order anything else. Since I was still hungry, I decided to just eat my sweet potato I ordered as my side. When I begin to peel the skin back I saw a large green and gray area of MOLD!, MOLD!!! Needless to say, we walked out! Until they fire everyone and scrub that place down I would stay way from this place like the plague! You have been warned!

The food is great, but Cassandra...our server is completely rude. Totally killed the vibe for me and my family. From the moment we walked in she had a stink face on, even though all of us said hello to her. When we asked for a table she tried to sit us in a corner...Nobody puts baby in a corner! So I asked for a window seat. Apparently that made her world crumble, IT WASN'T EVEN BUSY!!! strike 1. We proceed to place our orders and we ask if it would be better to order to go since we had a plane to catch....she was rude and said it would take the same amount of time for the kitchen to cook it...and that if we ordered to go it would confuse the kitchen. She was openly frustrated with us because we had questions...As a waitress it is so important to be of assistance to the customer and answer questions, so why the janky attitude lady? At this point I was biting my tongue because I needed food. So I politely asked for her name and we all placed our orders and put up with her horrible attitude. I will never eat there again. Unless Cassandra goes to charm school.

Ordered two steak sandwiches to go and was extremely disappointed. The steak was like leather. I don't expect filet mignon when I order a steak sandwich, but this was bad. The bread was soaked in butter and the French fries were soggy and undercooked. This was just my one experience so take it for what it's worth but I don't think I'll be going back.

Good food and the service wasn't bad at all. We had a couple of midnight sandwiches that came out hot and tasty . I would eat here again.

I am updating my review to say that one of the owners contacted me regarding my review below. He showed sincere concern and offered to make me a fan again (so to speak). I haven't returned yet but I'm certain I will. Like I said below I loved this place. I shouldn't let one bad experience keep me away. I'll give them another chance :) Have frequented Havanas since they opened and my original review was 4 stars and amazing. However after my last visit 2 nights ago I must say I'm not sure I will be going back. Always ordered churrasco. Recommended to the others in our large party. 3 of us got it. When it came to the table two of the steaks were of descent proportion. However mine was a paper thin piece of meat that looked like it belonged on a cheese steak sandwich. When brought to the attention of the manager he did not agree with me that mine was any different than the others. It was obvious! And to pay $22 for such was crazy. After unnecessary banter back and forth he finally took the plate back and the waiter returned later with an additional piece of meat on the plate. For the rest of our meal the manager watched me like I was a criminal! If I do decide to patronize Havanas again it will not be at this location. The previous manager, Fernando, would NEVER treat a customer the way this person did.

Food is amazing. The size of the their portions are unreal. Definitely leave with a doggie bag. There has not been anything that I ordered that I did not like. I normally order out since its close to home.

My husband and I have been here twice. We always give places a second chance if we are not too impressed with the first visit. The food here is all right but nothing you will be craving for later. I do find the prices high for the food quality and portions sizes. Of the two servers that attended us the gentleman was great while the young lady was awful (don't recall her name). She seem to have very little customer service experience and no desire to engage with the table. Over all the Cuban food is average, this restaurant is pricey for what you get, and the service is inconsistent. We wont be coming back here again.

The food is delicious and by far the best Cuban food I've ever tasted! Staff are all very friendly and on top of things. I don't care much for wine but their red sangria is awesome!

First let me say I'm not a big fan of cuban food. This place was completely unexpected & surprisingly amazing. The service was top notch. Cuban bread baked to perfection. Had the shrimp skewers on a bed of rice & black beans with tostones & churassco(?) sauce on the side. PERFECTION! They won me over.

I honestly expected a mediocre food like La Carreta's but i was blown away by the lobster tail dish, great ambiance and friendly service. Lunch specials are generous at $9.99. I come to this place at least 1 every other week.

Service is bad. Food used to be good but last two times it was not at all. Have them two stars because my wife likes them, than again she orders the same thing every time!!

My husband and I took my daughter and her husband to eat here a few months ago. I would have given them another star for the food, but just can't because the prices are so high. Our bill came to $90 for the four of us. This is Cuban food. It's rice, beans, bananas, and some meat. That's it. How did it come to $90? I'll never go back.

  • Maxine V.

Definitely very good Cuban food. For takeout I got the ropa vieja which I thought was very tasty. I had a lot of flavor. I personally think my mom makes the best ropa vieja, however this is my favorite outside of mom's (huge compliment!). My food also came with platanos, which could probably have used an extra day or two to ripen, as they were not as sweet as I would have liked them to be; however they were still good. BF got the chicken quesadilla, which he liked a lot. I thought it was pretty good too but need to be spicier (he hates spicy so he disagreed). Overall I would definitely order here again.

Mucho LOVE-O this place. Its clean and the staff is great. I like the option of brown rice. Drinks are good too. They will do anything you ask here. If you dont like something they will do it again. The only thing is, and I dont know... I dont think they use pans to cook in. I think they use the grill top becuase my husbands porkchop tasted like my fish. Its all good though.. will always go back.

No need to fly to Cuba or even drive down to Miami for Incredible, Authentic, Cuban cuisine at incredibly competitive prices with amazing service and a very chic looking restaurant. You heard right. The trifecta!! I hit gold!! Stopped by here for my first time just 2 weeks ago where I had a Palomilla Steak with white rice, black beans and maduros (sweet plantains) for $11.95. Everything was delicious. Everything was perfectly seasoned and cooked to perfection, even the plantains were cooked with care, where in so many other establishments are drenched in grease and one or two in the pack are charred. I have returned twice since then as I wanted to make sure a 5 star review was warranted. Service was exceptional every, single time. The drinks were repeatedly filled before reaching bottom. Not once did I have to call the server for anything. The customary Cuban bread with butter that is brought out before your meal arrives is the freshest and best tasting bread I have ever had at any Cuban restaurant. My second visit I ordered and enjoyed picadillo with white rice, black beans and maduros again and all for $8.95. The dish was a powder keg of flavor and aroma and simply like mom makes at home. On my most recent visit, I ordered a bowl of their chicken soup $3.75 and a media noche sandwich (with fries) for $6.95. Absolutely delicious. Everything I have tried just ignites your taste buds. The food at Havana's is exceptionally fresh and more importantly, you can actually see the care that has gone into the preparation and presentation of each meal. Add to that the exceptional service I have encountered on all 3 of my visits and I have no other alternative than to rate Havana's 5 well deserved stars. MY FOLLOW UP REVIEW AFTER 2 RECENT VISITS: Sadly, this place has either changed ownership or chefs. The service remains very good. However, the food quality/taste has greatly diminished. Whether it's steak or chicken, the food has been quite bland and tasteless. A far cry from my prior experiences where food exploded with flavor. Very disappointing and my reason for reducing my original 5 star rating to 2.

With a name like Havana's, I expect authentic Cuban. This is not authentic Cuban. I believe it is more Argentinian, actually. I ordered a Cuban sandwich, and it was not pressed (that's a major part of a Cuban). It was not a bad sandwich, just not really a Cuban. The food is not bad at all, and the servers are very nice. I would not go out of my way for this place, but since it's in the area, we come in every so often.

This place really hit the nail on the head for me. I never thought I would find good Cuban food in Cooper City. I just didn't think it was possible, but it is. I've been wanting to come here since it opened and I just haven't made the effort to go. Finally, the option to go for lunch came up and I took it. It was just before 12 when I got there, it was pretty dead. The inside is decorated very nice and it adds to the awesomeness of this restaurant. The walls are furnished with steel shutters and it really adds flair. The service was awesome, very friendly and attentive. I don't think my water glass stayed empty for more than a few seconds. We were greeted at the table with pressed Cuban bread, it was very good! I ordered off the lunch menu (which is extremely cheap!) the cuban steak sandwich with fries. I regret not trying the rice and beans, I'm sure they're amazing. We also order croquetas as an appetizer. They came out and to my surprise they were the biggest I have seen. They were really good and not very greasy. After this our sandwiches came out, just like our appetizer they were HUGE. The whole plate was filled with food. I tried half a cuban sandwich and half steak. Everything was prepared perfectly. Nothing was dry and everything had a lot of flavor. Like sara f said, the chimichurri was very good. Slightly heavier then I am normally use to, but good. The fries that came with the meal really complemented it. They were seasoned and very fresh. I am very happy with this meal. It was under 25$ for everything including tip. This place has a lot of potential and I am very excited to go back and try other stuff. So in summary, Awesome food, sweet decor, friendly service, free bread.

Pure coincidence on how I ended up here because I don't live in the area but my eyebrow place is here and I was hungry and had an hour so I came inside. The place is cool looking too. I was immediately sat down, asked what I wanted to drink and given some warm cuban bread...yum!!! The staff was great! Everyone very attentive. It was during lunch so I ordered a sandwich, croqueta preparada. It's a basically a Cuban sandwich with ham croquetas. I don't get it with the pork ever so it's just bread, ham, Swiss, pickles and mustard. I got it with a side of fries. The sandwhich was great. The cheese was melted just right and the fries were crispy and yummy! I also ordered the Sangria which was ok...nothing out of this world but it was good. If I am ever in Cooper City again, I will try it out again!

This is a really nice Cuban restaurant. The prices are higher than what you might expect, but when you count in the service and ambiance then you are definitely getting what you pay for. This is a neighborhood restaurant near where my cousin lives. When we visit, we like to come here. The portions are generous and the flavors are tremendous. The service is amazing as well. Anything we needed we got immediately, sometimes even before we asked. We shared the Lechon Asado, Medio Pollo Deshuesado a la Parrilla with a sweet potato. Everything was prepared perfectly. Top that with the fresh warm bread and we were happy campers!

The place is very cute and more importantly, the food is very good, but I kinda don't think they are Cuban. Maybe it doesn't matter that much since the food was good. The bread that they brought to the table before our meal was delicious. It was pressed with garlic butter and nicely seasoned. My son ordered the chicken fingers. Chicken fingers are usually not worth mentioning, but they did come with frest cut french fries that are worth mentioning. They were delicious and my son loved them. Since I don't eat meat and wasn't that hungry, I only order moros and yuca with mojo. They both were very good, but their mojo is kinda flat. I would definitely go again and tell people about it. Wait, isn't that what I'm doing?

This place was good, I'd go back. They got great, friendly service and great food. I ordered the yuca fritas which were not greasy and the cilantro dip was paired perfectly. As for entre I ordered the grilled chicken with onion which also came with black beans, rice, and plantains. I liked it, it was good! They also serve you a basket of warm cuban bread when you get seated. Definitely try this place guys!

This low key restaurant serves up the best gourmet Cuban food I have ever had at a price that is more than reasonable for the quality and amount of food you get. I have already had three different selections, including the steak and snapper entrees and not a morsel was left on my plate. These platters included tasty, healthy sides of a head of broccoli, brown rice, and steamed spinach. Feed a couple for $30. and have plenty of food left over for others.

I am sooo happy to have found this place (thanks, Yelpers! xoxo). I have been accustomed to going to my local La Carreta, only to be disappointed by mediocre food and overcrowding the last few times. I was in a creole food mood last weekend and dragged my hubby over here to give them a shot. We went there for lunch and it was located in a strip mall, with plenty of parking, so we were pleased. The inside looked really classy, and they had a full bar (score! although we weren't drinking lol, but keep this in mind for next time). We had the croquetas an an appetizer. My husband ordered bistek de palomilla, moros, y platanos maduros. Delicious. I always get bistec empanizado con moros y tostones, without fail, so I decided to give something new a try, since I was at a new restaurant. You know, I was feeling CRAZY. So I opted for ropa vieja with arroz con frijoles y tostones. Bam! ok so I didn't switch up the tostones. don't judge. The food was really delicious and the service was very attentive. I will definitely be going back for more. You know I have to order my usual and see how it compares there. Then I can truly be able to give you my absolute opinion of this place. So far so good! We'll be back.

Very, very reasonably priced (bill for four came out to about $45 before tip -- they boast $11-30/person) and AMAZING food! Between the four of us, we ordered three lechon asado and one vaca frita (which is basically the same dish with beef instead of pork) and a side of chimicurri. The black beans were flavorful and the meat was tender and covered in soft, sweet onions. The chimichurri was zippy and filled with garlic--which I love!--and the waitstaff was very diligent with filling our water glasses and checking in on us. And the fried plantains were not too oily, not too sweetened... just YUM. The atmosphere is fresh and fun, with trendy metalwork and good lighting accompanying dark wood chairs and black booths. I have a feeling this is a newly renovated space and possibly a new restaurant, though I am not from the area and don't know that for sure. They also have nice curb-appeal with a cool flame tower out front :) The menu (which is online in full at their website) also includes Argentinian skirt steaks, quesadillas and a myriad of seafood including a lobster tail for $19.95. They also have a great wine list, mojito and sangria. Though we did not see any beer on the menu, the website has photos of cold beer bottles so I assume they also have a small beer selection. The website also boasts free WiFi, takeout, delivery and catering. I really have NO complaints and would highly recommend this place to anyone who enjoys good Latin food! Five stars for great food, great service, and great atmosphere!

I must admit, I was a bit skeptical of this place. I've driven past it many times on my way home but I never gave it a chance until recently. Although it's smaller than most restaurants and the waitstaff confused my table's orders, the food made up for it sevenfold. As an appetizer, my table ordered Yuca Frita which came with a cilantro sauce. It was delicious and fried to a golden brown. The sauce made the dish and I was tempted to keep it all to myself! As an entree, I ordered the Lechon Asado and I was not disappointed. It came with white rice, black beans, and plantains (you can substitute that with yuca or tostones). The pork was roasted to perfection and each bite was flavorful and tender. I recommend this dish if you love pork dishes! I also ordered the red sangria and it was delicious as well. But if you are with a party that is into it, I would recommend getting the pitcher (which has fresh fruits) rather than a single glass. It lacked the flair that the table made sangria had. My boyfriend got the Bistec de Palomilla and found it to be a bit dry so be sure to ask for it medium. He wants to try my dish next time! Others at my table had the Picadillo Criolla and Ropa Vieja and they had no complaints. Verdict: I would recommend this place! It's location is convenient and easy to find. There is plenty of parking and hardly a wait when I ate there. I saw that many tables ordered a pitcher of sangria so be sure to try it! They have two varieties: red and white. The prices were fair and the food was great! I will be back again soon.

Nice place, with a very simple but attractive design. Latin/salsa music playing in the background will make you believe that you are in what could have been Havana without Fidel. The food in the other hand was one of the worse of the cuban cuisine that I have tasted in long time. Totally insipid. Be prepared to pay 50 dollars for the meal of two when the price for the same meal around the area is around 35 dollars.

This Place is off the Chain!! The Pork Quesadillas are a MUST! Their Ropa Vieja..I just want to pour it down my throat! The most surprising was their skirt steak Caesar I ordered one night on a whim..I'm a med-rare type of gal but I let them do it their way. It was AMAZING! Perfectly seasoned, melted in my mouth and it was well done!! I wish they had delivery because I'm lazy but they are totally worth the drive (three blocks away) Go here! NOW!!
